1 Injured in 5-Vehicle Crash on Dallas North Tollway

(NBCDFW) A multiple car accident occurred Saturday night causing serious physical injuries and shutting down all northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway. The accident was investigated by the Dallas Sherriff's Department who arrived as the seen at about 8:30 p.m.

At about 8:30 p.m., traffic began to slow on the tollway near Northaven Road near Preston Royal Northwest because a motorist was stranded in a lane. The traffic flow became congested, but the driver that appears to be at-fault slammed into the back of another vehicle, caused a chain reaction crash that included 4 additional cars. The Texas Department of Public Safety contacted the fire department after one vehicle caught fire.

One victim was taken to an local emergency room with unknown injuries. The northbound lanes of the tollway remained closed until about 2:30 a.m.
